This albumen print of a sepia vignette from the Princess Bamba Collection has been on display in the Sikh Gallery for decades without a name. Listed in the official records as “One photograph depicting bust of a boy,” in some registers, and as “Bust of a boy with navy scarf” in others, is actually Princess Bamba Sutherland’s youngest brother Prince Albert Edward Alexander Duleep Singh (1879–93), the third son and youngest child of Maharaja Duleep Singh and Maharani Bamba.

The source of our information is a group photo of four of Maharaja Duleep Singh’s children on the Royal Collection Trust website (RCIN 2907422). This photograph is from volume 6 of Queen Victoria’s leather-bound album called Photographic Portraits taken between 1888 and 1893. The RCT website gives October 1889 as the date of this photograph.
